Fort Wayne Hydro-Excavation Services

Excavation Around Utilties That Are Too Close

What is hydro-excavation?

Hydro-excavation is an alternative to traditional excavation equipment. Particularly, it involves a “non-mechanical” safe way of digging around utilities. Given that, the process enables us to continue to work in areas where utilities are close together or not clearly marked.

Today, underground utility infrastructures are becoming increasingly congested. As a result, they have adapted to meet greater demands. Subsequently, this has led to increasing safety and financial concerns when there is a need to locate and expose utilities. The presence of more utilities means a greater chance of damaging or hitting them when doing a digging project. Locating utilities is a must for any project. This prevents unnecessary damages to utilities or emergencies.

Hydro-excavation uses non-destructive water technology. Pressurized water creates sludge that is then vacuumed into a tanker. The process reveals deeper layers of the ground below as it is carried out. It allows us to quickly, safely, and economically excavate in areas not accessible to conventional digging equipment. It is possible even where pressure gas lines and pipelines are present.

Major gas companies, consultants, industrial facilities, and contractors depend on our speed, safety, and know-how for everything from potholing, pilot holes, and slot trenching to major excavations. Contact us about your project for more information.

How should I excavate if the utilities are too close?

If the location of your utilities is close to the two-foot allowance, and traditional excavation is too risky, hydro-excavation is the perfect solution. Unlike traditional excavation, being within the two-foot allowance will not cause concern when using hydro-excavation.

What kinds of project use hydro-excavation?

The most common type of project that requires hydro-excavation is potholing utilities. It is used to verify where the utilities are before using an excavator digs on the site.

Who can hydro-excavate?

Hydro-excavation requires the use of special machinery. At J&S, we have the high-vac tanker needed to perform hydro-excavations. Also, we have the knowledge to operate the equipment safely. You might not know that hydro-excavation is what you need. Additionally, we have traditional excavation equipment. If you call for excavation, we will determine the type you need and complete the project.

Contact us for more information. Overall, we discuss the details of the project with you. Then, give you information on what type of process is best in your scenario. We can give you a free quote and a timeline for the project. Call us for more details.
