Fort Wayne Grinder Pump Service

Repairs and Installations

What is a grinder pump?

A grinder pump is a type of sewage pump. It uses a cutting blade and a high RPM motor to cut up sewage. This makes them smaller pieces that can easily pass through pipes. When gravity fall isn’t an option, they force sewage into a city sewer force main. Because of this, they usually have more power and are more expensive than other sewage pumps. Although they are powerful, it is still important to only flush items that belong in toilets. Other items will clog the pump, causing it to need repairs.

Does my property have a pump that grinds?

These pumps sit in underground basins. Generally, these basins have a green lid measuring anywhere from 24 inches to 36 inches in diameter. These stations are usually within fifty feet of the house. They also have, in most cases, a control box nearby or a breaker directly labeled grinder pump. These types of pumps may also be required for commercial businesses, simply because of the amount of solid waste they produce.

If this does not sound like what you have, you might have an ejector pump or a dosing pump.

Why is my grinder pump alarm going off?

An alarm goes off for three main reasons. Firstly, the pump itself has gone bad. Secondly, the control floats inside the basin are no longer functioning as they should. Lastly, there can be electrical issues inside the control panel, which cannot allow the pump to run.

In all these instances, give us a call to get help and information.

How can I fix my grinder pump?

A trained technician to diagnose what is wrong with the pump is needed. Give us a call to help you start moving in the right direction.
