Fort Wayne Dosing Pump Service

Dose Pump Repairs and Installation

What is a Dosing pump?

A dosing pump is required in most modern septic systems. Older septic systems that did not have proper gravity fall needed dose pumps. Generally, they pump the liquid to a sand filter bed.  Newer systems pump the liquid from the house to a mound or flood-dose trenches.

Dose pumps range anywhere from 4/10 HP all the way to 2 HP in some specialty systems. They measure water levels and pump water out when it reaches a certain level in the tank. Their purpose is to minimize the risk of flooding the septic tank or leach field.

Why is the alarm in my basement going off? Why is the alarm in my garage going off?

If an alarm is going off in either the basement or the garage, this means the dosing pump is not working as it should. The alarm is a combination of light and/or a buzzer. Contact us if you have questions.

How do I know if I have a dosing pump?

A residential homeowner can easily find a dosing tank by the type of lid they can find in their yard. Generally, a dose tank lid can be painted green steel or aluminum rectangular tank. approximately 2 ft wide by 3 ft long. From time to time in older homes, although less common, a dosing tank can have a concrete or circular metal lid.

What is wrong with my pump?

A dose pump will quit working for three main reasons. Firstly, the pump itself can be defective and no longer work. Secondly, the control float may no longer be working properly. Lastly, the electrical supply to the dose pump might be having issues. Call us with any issues with your dosing pump.
